Mr Shameen Jaunoo

Consultant General & Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon

Mr Jaunoo is a Consultant General, Upper GI and Laparoscopic Surgeon. He is available to see and treat patients privately at Royal Sussex County Hospital (Brighton), the Princess Royal Hospital (West Sussex), the Montefiore Hospital (East Sussex), the Nuffield Hospital Brighton, the Nuffield Hospital Haywards Heath (West Sussex). 

 

Mr Jaunoo qualified in medicine from St. Bartholomew's & The Royal London School of Medicine. During his undergraduate studies he spent a year completing laboratory-based research in pancreatic cancer. He carried out his postgraduate surgical training in the West Midlands, including time spent working in liver transplantation, organ retrieval, hepatobiliary surgery and oesophagogastric cancer surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.


He was awarded a Master of Surgery with distinction by the University of Edinburgh for his postgraduate research and spent two years as Senior Clinical Fellow in oesophagogastric surgery at Oxford University Hospitals before being appointed as a Consultant at Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust.

Mr Jaunoo founded the Warwickshire Surgical Research Group, has published several book chapters and has multiple peer-reviewed publications. He has a passion for teaching and has taught and examined at the Universities of Warwick, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Oxford. He was twice nominated for ‘surgical tutor of the year’ at Oxford University Medical School.
